Deerfield's Distracted Drivers

So I just came across a very disturbing article.  Deerfield, IL has a very big problem when it comes to driving.  Forget the people who think they own the road here, which there are quite a few of, or the impatient drivers, which there seem to be more of.  We have a "distracted driving" problem!  Deerfield police wrote 209 tickets within a 2 week span for distracted driving, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Honestly, I didn't even realize this was as big of a problem as it is.  But here we are, moving to the suburbs to keep our children safe, and they should be able to walk to school, or downtown Deerfield without having to worry about getting hit by a car!  I mean, I get that accidents happen, but is whatever happening on your phone, that important that it can't wait till you get to your destination?!  I can't say that I am not guilty of this.  But I have attempted driving and texting in the past, and I almost ended up on the oncoming side of traffic.  Never again.

Apple came up with a great idea, and inserted a "Do not disturb while driving" application (in your settings tab under Do Not Disturb).  This causes your phone to go completely silent and alerts whomever is texting you, that you are driving and can not respond right now.  For phone calls, USE BLUETOOTH!  Its that simple.  Don't put our children, let alone your own, at risk while driving.

Thats my rant for the day.
